Useful information:
Q: Why is the SX-70 so precious?
A: All SX-70 cameras were produced in the 1970s, which is over 50 years of history. The SLR670 has been meticulously refurbished and upgraded with new components, ensuring enhanced shutter control and warranty coverage. This also means that by owning a camera, you're holding a piece of Polaroid's rich history.
We try to preserve the camera's original appearance as much as possible to capture its timeless essence. However, it may not possess the same flawless perfection as machine-manufactured cameras, yet it bears traces of its meaningful journey. So it's completely normal to have slight traces of historical use.
Q: How does opening and closing the SLR670 (Type i) differ from other cameras?
A: Compared to the vintage SX-70, the SLR670 (Type i) might feel tighter when opening and closing due to the new shell design. It will loosen up after time.
Q: Why is there a small gap even after I fold the camera?
A: It is normal to have a small gap. Each camera has its slight fit variations, which have no impact on functionality.
Q: What's the purpose of the gap below the front plate? Is my camera experiencing an issue?
A: There's no need to worry! The gap below the front plate is intentional and completely normal. The gap is designed to allow photos to eject. If the gap was absent, the pictures would not be able to eject properly.
Q: What film should I use when the Time Machine is unplugged?
A: The SLR670 camera is an ISO600 camera. Upon unplugging the Time Machine, you can directly use 600 films. This is equivalent to the A600 mode when the time machine is plugged in. The camera will meter for you to determine the optimal shutter speed.
Q: Do I need to use the "Film Shield"?
A: We highly recommend using the "Film Shield" (also known as the Frog tongue), especially when shooting in bright outdoor sunlight. This helps prevent uneven color shifts in your photos. If you don't have a film shield available, an alternative method is to flip over the photo immediately upon ejection, which can also be effective.
Q: How do I take indoor shots?
A: Attach the Mint Flash Bar 2, an electric flash designed for the SX-70/SLR670 that can be used infinitely. Alternatively, connect an external flash with the SLR670-X model – refer to similar connection methods.
Q: Why are there one or two grey lines on the camera viewfinder?
A: The one or two grey lines in the viewfinder are perfectly normal. It will not affect the picture in any way. These lines are not cracks.
These grey lines are caused by the viewing mirror, not the photo-taking mirror. Therefore, you don’t have to worry. This "crack" does not affect any of the pictures taken with the camera.
